Beaverkill Valley Inn | Livingston Manor, NY | October, 2022
Aaron + Nora
Driving through New York on an early October morning, the last thing I expected to see was the changing of the leaves on the mountains of the Sullivan Catskills. Autumn hadn’t quite arrived in my little corner of Northeast PA, so while completely unexpected, this sudden change of season was well welcomed, and only enhanced Aaron & Nora’s (two full time Texans who flew up for their ceremony in the foot of the Catskills) storybook day.
And that’s really what this day was: a storybook day. Upon arriving at the Beaverkill Valley Inn (located in the charming town of Livingston Manor, NY), I was amazed to see the difference in the venue between my last visit – a brisk and gray November day – to today. The Inn, while beautiful that day last winter (when Aaron & Nora’s engagement session took place), took on an entirely different life in the Fall. The rustic, classic vibe of this Catskills staple was made for the Autumn season. It’s an architecturally stunning Victorian venue (interiorly and externally) that was built in the late 19th century originally as a place to stay for trout fly fishermen and later preserved as a resort. The red and orange glimmer of Fall added an extra layer of intimacy and warmth.
We had a slow paced (in the best way) day that primarily focused on celebrating the union of Aaron & Nora with the people who mean the most to them. I loved the casual yet elegant flow of the afternoon into the evening, which gave me the ability for thoughtful documentation and some great opportunities throughout the day to utilize the outdoor and indoor spaces of the venue for meaningful portraits.
This day was nothing short of God glorifying to celebrate the marriage of two people who couldn’t love each other more.
