Can you imagine renovating an ENTIRE family barn for the best day of your life? From a dance floor to romantic string lighting, gorgeous table settings and views as far as the eye could see, this wedding was one for the books.
When I photographed Dani and Ben for their engagement session last year, they picked their future wedding venue and home site as their location. I’m a sucker for sentimental things like this – there is no editing style, camera equipment, or shooting angle that can replace the depth of photographing a memory somewhere that has meaning to you (which is why I place such heavy emphasis on my Front yard minis and In Home Sessions that I do a few times each year, as well as allow my clients to shoot wherever they want).
When I arrived, they showed me the tremendous task they had at hand – renovating an old family barn from top to bottom. Stepping inside and viewing the woodwork on that chilly winter day, I admired the natural light pouring through the crevices, the rustic wood throughout, and the vastness of the entire place. The outdoor area spoke for itself too, boasting the sweetest pond and classic agricultural features. It was an absolute dream, and I couldn’t wait to see the final product in less than a year later.
Dani said a month or so out from her wedding day that I wouldn’t believe what it looked like now. When I showed up I was completely floored, and remember telling her that they need to make this an official venue. Everything was so thoughtfully done, from the construction of a dance floor, to an inlet for the DJ to set up, to a perfect buffet setup for the caterer. Not to mention the gorgeous decorations throughout, pulling in all of the rustic charm in such an elevated and elegant way.
It felt like a fairytale.
The whole day moved super effortlessly – even a bout of rain wasn’t enough to wipe the smile off of anyone’s face. These were some of the happiest guests I had seen all year and the party was nonstop (with some really memorable moments to top it off).
Driving home that night, I couldn’t help but think what an incredible day this was for me to document.
