Jennie + Nicholas | June 2022
When Jennie & Nicholas asked me to photograph their wedding in June of 2022, I couldn’t have been more ecstatic. A few months prior, we had spent a significant amount of time trouping through their family property for their engagement session. I had such a blast getting to know them, taking some stunning photos of the two of them, and matching their enthusiasm for love and photography. I knew we’d be a tremendous fit for their actual wedding day.
Our day together started with an emotional church service. It was obvious these two were dreaming about this day for a very long time.
Joy wasn’t a hard emotion to capture with Jennie, Nicholas, and their entire wedding party. I LOVE a couple that gets jazzed over their portrait session and prioritizes it in their timeline. There are few things more magical than that “just married” glow.
Jennie was one of the most fun brides I got to work with of the year. She’s a visionary: every detail of her wedding was well thought out, gorgeous, and exciting. It was a jam-packed day of sheer joy, and I loved that pieces of both her and Nicholas’ personalities were sprinkled throughout the entire celebration, from the travel themed decor, tasteful party attire, incredible dance moves, and romantic lighting & aesthetic of their reception.
A highlight of the day was sneaking off to the rooftop of the Hilton and snagging some extra photos of the newlyweds. This part of the evening is always my favorite. Up until this point, it’s usually nothing but straight hustling for hours and hours. This is usually the first point in the day where you can properly breathe, look at each other in the eyes, and say “we did it.”
Something you wouldn’t be able to tell through these photographs is that the AC was completely down throughout the entirety of the hotel this day. Lack of cooling wasn’t even a damper to the evening – the smiles and joy on the faces of all who attended was evidence that everyone here was here for the bride & groom. These were “their people.” What a joy it was to document such an occasion.
